Think Low Fat for Longevity

By Tom Herrin

People do things for all kinds of reasons.  What is even worse, they often do things for no reason at all.  Circumstances may dictate what they do and why.  All they need to do is look at any ad and see the great things about fast foods.  With everything automated today, they don’t have to get up and get around much either.  There is some easy way for everything.  When I was young, the closest thing we had to a remote was a button we had to get up and touch on the television to change it to a preset channel.  I thought that was high tech.  Today many of our conveniences almost haunt us by contributing to our sedentary nature.

Aging May Be A Fact

No matter what they do, people will age.  The question is just how fast will they do so?  The lifestyles they live can have a great effect on how and when they age.  Eating habits and activity can both have a significant effect on how the body ages.  Even as they reach their 30s and 40s, they may see increased blood pressure and blood sugar.  Both of these can be bad.  Add to this their cholesterol numbers and they may seem to be aging fast.

Read And React

It is important for people to be participants in their own health management.  Studies have shown that people may sometimes slow or reverse some of those obvious signs of aging just mentioned.  When they make definite changes in diet and/or exercise, or both, they can see improvements in as short as weeks.  Maintaining a good program must be more than a whim.  It must have some persistence.

Take Charge

You can actually do a lot about aging, in many cases.  Once you make a decision about your health, the rest may be a matter of carrying it out.  Good exercise programs can pay big dividends if you will stay with it.  Results may actually surprise you.  When you change from sedentary to active, you could have a noticeable improvement.  You are likely to find yourself more motivated.   If you are really interested in doing something to possibly increase the possibility of living longer, try getting serious about a low fat diet.  Studies have shown that the only thing that can truly increase the length of telomeres in your genetic material is a low fat diet.  That may give you more control than you ever dreamed you had.
