Bare Feet and Good Health May Go Hand-in-Hand
By Tom Herrin
There are lots of ways to get on the right track when it comes to better health. Particularly as we age, it is important that we stay focused on improving ours as much as possible. We must never take it for granted. Along with that, anytime we can find something that may be a simple way to boost our health, why shouldn't we take advantage of it? Recent observations indicate that walking barefoot may be one of those simple ways to give our health a lift without going to any kind of great expense or effort. There appear to be several ways in which it may be helpful.
Walking Barefoot May Help the Immune System
Our immune system can get a pretty good workout. As we have all seen in the past year, it is critical in maintaining the best health possible. It is believed that walking barefoot may be a way to decrease our white blood cell count. At the same time, it may help to increase our number of red blood cells. This is considered to be a sign of a better immune system which may provide us with that improved immune response we have heard so much about.
Spending Time Barefoot May Help With Sleep
Many of us may have sleep issues. I know it is something I have struggled with in many different periods of my life. Losing sleep can cause us to feel tired and exhausted much of the time. It seems that walking barefoot may be able to help our circadian rhythms. This is an important part of getting quality sleep. Anytime our circadian rhythms are disrupted, we may fail to feel rested or refreshed. This can drag on into many facets of our lives.
Taking Off Your Shoes Is Not So Bad
While we may do so a little at home, many of us may seldom actually spend time walking around barefoot. It can feel pretty good and may actually help us to feel rejuvenated. I have always enjoyed the feel of grass under my feet. If you feel a little adventuresome and want to experiment to find better health, try taking off your shoes and doing a little walking around. It may surprise you, and you may have some good results. The good thing is that there is no cost.
