Eating to Ease Your Arthritis
Having Arthritis pain is an issue that you have to deal with daily. This might be taking medication or pain killers, going to physical therapy, or just dealing with the pain without any sort of treatment. Omega-3 rich foods are another important staple in an arthritic individuals diet. This is because the omega-3 fats and oils suppress enzymes that erode bone cartilage, and cause joint inflammation. Fish, chia seeds, and flax seeds are all rich in omega-3s. It’s recommended that three and a half ounces of fish be eaten a day. You can consume chia seeds in smoothies, or even water. Flax seeds can be eaten, or used as an oil. Omega-3’s are essential oils that our body does not create on it’s own, so it’s extremely important to include these foods in your daily diet.
A few more foods to either start including in your daily diet, or begin upping the intake of, are whole grains, dark green vegetables, and vitamin C rich foods. If you’re going to make a sandwich or like toast with your breakfast, opt for whole grain breads or even whole grain tortillas, crackers, or bagels. Whole grains reduced blood levels if C-reactive proteins that cause inflammation. While making or eating salads choose to eat spinach or kale leaves rather than romaine or iceberg lettuce, and pair with fish to get your omega-3 in too! Dark green veggies lower acidity levels in the body, helping to ease arthritis pain. Vitamin C based foods have major healing properties. Fruits like oranges or grapefruits contain collagen, which help to build cartilage.
