Chiropractic Care and Stress Relief

By Rachel Shouse

We're very lucky that nowadays there are many ways to relieve stress in a natural way. There are an unlimited number of ads on TV and it's a very common topic of today. Taking good care of your health by seeing a chiropractor, utilizing stress relief techniques and products, and taking proper care of yourself through healthy eating and exercise can yield amazing results.

Your Health and Chiropractic Visits

Some may associate chiropractic care with neck or back pain. In reality, chiropractors are capable of much more. They are trained in the musculoskeletal system, which consists of your muscles, tendons, cartilage, bones, and ligaments. It's been proven that taking proper care of these areas of your body can decrease and even eliminate the need for extreme interventions, such as the need for painkillers and even surgery.

3 At-Home Stress Relief Tips

There are a multitude of ways to relieve stress at home in a natural way. We're going to talk about two stress relief techniques you can practice and learn at home, and one product that has served many well.

  • Deep breathing - This is a very common form of stress relief. It's not done by simply breathing in and out. There are other things you can do that will increase the stress relief. It helps to breathe in through your nose for three-seconds and out your mouth for the same count. If you're in a noisy place or situation, use headphones to help cancel out the noise so you can focus better.

  • Yoga, Pilates, and more - These are two of the most common forms of stress-relieving exercises. They're very similar and yet different. Their differences revolve around posture, but they're both used in tandem with breathing exercises.

  • Lavender, rose, and citrus essential oils - There are so many yummy smelling essential oils available. The three mentioned are proven to reduce stress in comparison to their counterparts. While smelling any enjoyable smell can help take your mind off of things, these three focus around stress relief.

Healthy Eating and Adequate Exercise

Some may exercise and eat a healthy diet in order to lose weight or maintain it. There are also those who do these things in order to reduce stress. Eating healthy foods helps your body function at its best. Avoiding fatty foods and sugary snacks helps ensure that your body isn't having to process unnatural ingredients.

Getting exercise helps get your blood pumping. This is actually great for stress relief as it helps you get other things off your mind. You're not thinking about homework, housework, or work in general when you're huffing and puffing from a good run or a brisk walk.
