Dr. Benjamin Sheehan joined The Joint Chiropractic family in 2018 with his arrival at the Bunker Hill location in Houston. He received his bachelor of science degree in biology at Texas Chiropractic College, which is where he also earned his doctorate in chiropractic.
“The best thing about what I do is, definitely, helping people find a natural resolution for what can be extremely debilitating pain,” Dr. Sheehan says. “The second-best thing is the amount of people I am able to meet and connect with. I love people, and chiropractic allows me to meet and help them.”
Before taking on his role as clinic director at Bunker Hill, Dr. Sheehan also worked in Texas City, League City, and NASA.
He has both a dog -- a Japanese spitz named Toby -- and “Andy, an ornery cat.”
“In my spare time I like playing fetch with Toby and picking up random counter objects Andy knocks to the floor,” Dr. Sheehan says. “I also enjoy going out or staying in with my girlfriend, reading, and training my body through mobility and strength.”
Dr. Sheehan knew chiropractic was his calling while he was a patient who experienced first-hand its benefits.
“I began having severe migraines three or four times per week after a low back injury, and the DC whom I was referred to -- now my brother-in-law -- told me, ‘It’s very common for these kinds of problems to be a spinal alignment issue at its root cause,’” he says. “I thought he was full of you-know-what, but it was free and I was 19 so I went with it. Sure enough, an exam, X-ray, and only two adjustments later, my migraines were gone and my baseball scholarship was saved.
“Three months later, I gave up my scholarship for summer class and waiting tables on the weekends to get in and start chiropractic school early.”
Dr. Keith Turley joined The Joint Chiropractic family of local healthcare providers in 2012. A graduate of Texas A&M who earned a master of science in agricultural economics, he received his doctorate of chiropractic from Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena.
“The thing I appreciate most about being in the chiropractic field is helping people be healthy through chiropractic care,” he says. “I love helping them learn about the body.”
Dr. Turley worked previously in San Antonio and Boerne before settling in Houston, where he works at different locations.
He and wife Janis have two sons, four daughters, and a dachshund/pitbull mix. In his spare time, Dr. Turley enjoys time with his family and church activities.
He knew chiropractic was his calling when he learned a very basic premise of health. “Anything can cause anything,” he says, and as a chiropractor, he was uniquely qualified to address health issues at the root cause rather than putting band-aids on symptoms.
That allows him a real hands-on approach to health. “I really enjoy working here,” he says. “We see lots of people.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Turley says the one thing he always has stocked in his refrigerator is milk because “it makes many things taste better.”
The coolest thing Dr. Turley has done, he says, was a two-year mission trip he took to Bolivia. “We were able to preach the word of God, meet many wonderful people, and see things I have never seen before,” he says. “I was also able to learn two new languages.”
