Sinus Pain and Pressure? Chiropractic Can Help!
By Sara Butler
If you suffer from sinus pain and pressure that leads to headaches, you know what an impact they can have on your quality of life. If you suffer from sinus pain and pressure and/or sinus headaches, your chiropractor may just be able to help! Here’s what you need to know about sinusitis and what you may be able to do in order to find some relief.
What is Sinusitis?
Sinusitis is inflammation of the sinuses, the hollow cavities in your skull. If fluid blocks the sinuses it can lead to infections that can cause a lot of pain and discomfort. You can get sinusitis from allergies or the common cold, among other things.
Sinusitis is most common in people between the ages of 18 and 45. You can get acute sinusitis or have sinus issues that are more chronic. Chronic sinus conditions can be painful for people to handle, but your chiropractor may just be able to help you find some relief.
You probably know that a chiropractor can adjust your back and neck, but did you know they can adjust your sinus too? Your chiropractor may see it necessary to adjust your facial bones in order to help improve drainage in your sinus. You may even have a vertebra in your neck out of alignment and that can cause problems with drainage in your sinuses as well. Once these obstructions are removed your sinuses may be able to drain more effectively and your sinus pain and pressure should be alleviated.
Chiropractic care can also be a preventative therapy if you have chronic sinus issues. Since your nervous system controls every aspect of the way your body works, if you can improve the signals from your nervous system to your respiratory system connected to your sinuses, then you may be able to stimulate drainage and keep mucus from building up and causing problems. This is what your chiropractor considers to be a treatment for the root cause of the sinus problems you may be experiencing. The doctor is treating the root cause rather than just the symptoms you are experiencing in an effort to end your sinus problems for good!
If you suffer from sinus issues you may want to discuss it with your chiropractor at your next visit. They may be able to offer you some other treatment alternatives that are natural and drug-free to help you find relief. So, ask your chiropractor about it during your next visit to The Joint Chiropractic!
