Get the Most Out of Your Chiropractic Adjustments
By Sara Butler
When you walk out of your chiropractor’s office, you probably feel so good you want to know how to make that feeling last. You are constantly fighting against the forces outside your body to stay in alignment, but there are some things you can do to help your chiropractic adjustment go the distance.
Make a Plan and Stick with It
Your chiropractor will work with you on a treatment plan, and sticking to that plan is important. You have to remember that healing is a process, and the issues you may be having with your spine or joints didn’t just happen overnight. Over a period of time the damage accumulated, and it will take some time to set things right. Each visit to your chiropractor helps to build on the one before it, so you can expect your results to last longer and longer. Once your treatment plan has been completed, it’s also important that you keep up with maintenance adjustments to stay in proper alignment.
Drink Water
Water helps to remove toxins from your body and keeps your joints and spinal discs lubricated and supple. Make sure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day. You should be consuming at least half of your weight in ounces of water every day. That means if you weigh 160 pounds, you need 80 ounces of water every day.
Sleep Right
You should be sleeping on your side or your back every night. You also need a pillow that helps to support your neck and hips. Strategically placed pillows between your knees and behind your neck can help to keep your spine in alignment and helps to remove some of the stress and strain off your spine and other joints. If you have a proper pillow, properly supportive mattress, and sleep in a position that is healthy for your spine, then you will wake up in the morning feeling great.
Don’t Sit on Your Wallet
If you’re a man, then take your wallet out of your back pocket when you sit, especially when you’re driving your car. If you sit on your wallet, then it forces one hip to sit higher than the other. This puts undue strain on your lower back and will get you back in your chiropractor’s office faster for the treatment of back pain!
