Meet The Doctors

Dr. Gary Embley, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Magnolia

Dr. Gary Embley became the local chiropractor for Magnolia in 2014 when he joined The Joint Chiropractic after practicing previously throughout the Houston area. Dr. Embley is a 2007 product of Texas Chiropractic College, but before that, he graduated in 1993 from University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a degree in criminal justice.

Dr. Embley first experienced chiropractic as a teenager in New Jersey. He was a high school football player who experienced severe headaches that wouldn’t go away, not even with medication. A chiropractic examination revealed a loss of curvature in his neck, which irritated the nerves and caused his headaches. After a series of chiropractic treatments, the headaches subsided and he was able to continue playing football into college.

“Having been a lifelong chiropractic patient since high school football,” Dr. Embley says, “when I decided to switch careers, it was an easy decision.”

He believes routine chiropractic care is the key to overall health and well-being. Dr. Embley has treated his own newborn son, as well as patients in their 90s. “Good health is never missed until it’s gone,” he says.

He relishes the chance to be part of a patient’s decision to live a healthier life. “It’s extraordinary to be able to deliver healthcare by using the body’s innate ability to heal itself,” he says. “I love working in Magnolia because it’s where the country meets the city, and it is wonderful to be a part of this community.”

Dr. Embley enjoys sports, which includes golfing and surfing, as well as spending time with wife Lacy, son Gavin, and their Boston terrier, Kali.

In Case You Didn’t Know

Being of Greek lineage, you might expect Dr. Embley to go for tzatziki, but because “everything tastes better with a little kick,” Sriracha hot sauce is his go-to condiment of choice.

An ideal dinner party for him is one that includes some of the biggest celebrities in their fields, including surfer Laird Hamilton.

“He’s an all-around waterman and surfer who, through his innovation and pioneering spirit, has tested the boundaries of what can be accomplished in the water,” Dr. Embley says. “Despite being famous, when I met him before, he was very humble and gracious enough to take a picture with a group of us.”

Humble and gracious would not describe another member of Dr. Embley’s ideal dinner party: General George Patton, whose “courage, patriotism, and his ability to lead others through tremendous adversity” are admirable traits.

Another type of general, of the filmmaking kind, is Clint Eastwood. No doubt, Dirty Harry would be a topic of conversation. “I grew up watching his movies,” Dr. Embley says. “He has a keen sense of how to tell a story through his directing abilities.”

Rounding out Dr. Embley’s ideal dinner table is “Deepak Chopra, because of his philosophy on alternative medicine and how we play a role in the universe.”

And if they have trouble getting the conversation started, they might consider the notion of jumping out of a plane.

“Skydiving,” Dr. Embley will tell them, “is the coolest thing I’ve ever done.”

Dr. Bradley Drake, D.C. is a Clinic Director, Chiropractor at Magnolia

Dr. Bradley Drake started practicing in the Dallas-Fort Worth Joint clinics in 2020. He relocated to The Woodlands area in 2021 and took over as Clinic Director for our Woodlands Parkway location. Born and raised in Texas, Dr. Drake earned his Bachelors of Science from Texas State University. Dr. Drake then went on to receive his Doctorate in Chiropractic and graduated with honors, summa cum laude, and was valedictorian of his class at the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida in 2019.

Dr. Drake first experienced chiropractic as a teenager after an injury while playing baseball in high school. “After over a year of dealing with a baseball injury and 2 failed surgeries based on incorrect diagnoses, I finally sought care from a chiropractor. They were able to get me back on the field for my Senior year after 2 months of care.” Dr. Drake recognized the importance of this approach with patient injuries and often recommends in his treatments to his patients to start with conservative chiropractic care before jumping into other alternatives.

Dr. Drake says, “I’ve loved working for The Joint because I’ve been able to help far more patients at our clinics than I would have in private practice clinics. I’m a part of a nationwide network of clinics that is helping people by making it more convenient with the ease of just simply walking in.”

“The best thing about practicing chiropractic is being able to help patients out of pain and improve upon their health and overall quality of life,” Dr. Drake says. He has also said that the second-best thing about being a chiropractor is being able to get adjusted on a regular basis.

In his spare time, you can usually catch Dr. Drake enjoying the outdoors, watching baseball/football games, or even studying more continual research to further improve his knowledge on chiropractic studies.

In Case You Didn’t Know

The one must have thing in Dr. Drake’s fridge is lime seltzer water. "It’s my way of avoiding drinking any soda and it’s always refreshing to have."

One of the coolest things Dr. Drake has done was being able to visit Hawaii. “Besides actually getting married to the love of my life, being able to go on an adventure to Maui with my best friend has got to top any other experience I’ve had!”
