By Virginia Laird

Although many people do not realize it, improving health is a very self-paced task. Those who may struggle with self-motivation may find it more difficult to stay the path of improving health. Keeping in mind that drastic changes (all at once) may not be the answer, there are a few personal trainer recommended tips that can have a huge impact. Some of these can offer changes almost immediately noticeable. These include:

  • Make sleep a priority
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Spend time outside
  • Make time to exercise

Make Sleep a Priority

Sleep is important. The body cannot function without enough sleep. A lack of sleep can prevent the brain from thinking clearly and focusing. Research suggests that adults should get a minimum of six hours of sleep each night. During sleep the body recharges, stores energy, and repairs damages to the many systems of the body.

Drink Plenty of Water

Although many choose other beverages, water is the very best for the body. The body cannot function properly without enough water. Staying hydrated plays a huge role in maintaining health. The body has a difficult time fighting off infections without the proper amount of water. If you struggle with drinking enough water, try investing in a water bottle or cup that can be carried with you throughout the day. This can serve as a reminder to drink.

Spend Time Outside

Spending time outside is another great thing to help improve health. Sunlight offers vitamins to the body. Fresh air can help the body's immune system function. Research suggests that fresh air can help the brain to function. If you struggle to enjoy outdoor life, find a relaxing place to read. There is no need to force any activity on yourself that is not pleasant. Sitting outside and enjoying the breeze can do wonders for the body and brain.

Make Time to Exercise

Making time to exercise can be as simple as getting out for a brisk walk. There is no need to rush out and begin training for the next marathon or bodybuilding competition. Exercise, even something simple and brief, can do wonders for the body. It helps to burn excess carbs and energy. It also works to relieve stress and tension.

When beginning your path to a healthier you, try beginning with just one change at a time. This can help you be more successful. Good luck!
