3 Exercises You're Not Doing But Should Be
If you’re even mildly concerned about your health and fitness, you probably exercise at least semi regularly. We all know that a good workout is essential for better health. But are you seeing results? Is your body changing? Are you happy with the progress being made? If the answer is no, it might be time to make some changes to your workout routine. Take a look at these three incredible exercises that you probably aren’t doing, but totally should be.
Sprinting
Even if you run regularly, chances are good that you’re skipping the sprint sessions. We do these a lot when we're young, but as we age we forget about this important part of running. Why add these to the routine? Sprinting requires quick, powerful bursts of energy. They also target your fast twitch muscle fibers instead of your slow twitch. And of course, because of the energy required to complete a sprint session, you’ll burn far more calories in a much shorter amount of time.
Jumping Rope
If you don’t already jump rope, you have to add this childhood favorite back into your workout. Jumping rope is hard … really hard ... probably a lot harder than you remember. It burns massive calories, combines cardio with quick bursts of energy, and builds endurance incredibly quickly. In fact, the first time you jump rope, you will probably find yourself out of breath faster than you ever thought possible. But stick with it! This is one of the best ways to improve your health and fitness with very little equipment or knowledge.
Squats
OK in all fairness, you might be doing these already. But are you doing enough? Are you following perfect form? Squats are one of the best exercises for our backside and lower leg muscles. Whether you choose to add weights or just do reps of bodyweight squats isn’t super important in the beginning. The important part is getting them done! If you have knee issues, take it easy or talk to a fitness professional. Otherwise, add these to your normal routine ASAP.
Exercise and working out regulalry is so important for overall health. But it’s not enough to do the same thing every day if you’re not seeing results. To really add a challenge to your workout, add these on a regular basis. You might find your fitness level and health improve, and your workouts feel fresh and brand new all over again.
