Health May Benefit From Short Workouts

By Tom Herrin

It isn't every day that people have the opportunity to do a little less and expect good results.  While this isn't the case for everything, it may work for some exercises.  Many times, people overdo their efforts in an attempt to make what they believe are great strides.  Going the extra mile is good for some things, but when people have those busy schedules, something may need to give in order for them to balance that schedule.  They may either have to drop some activities or change their workout plans.  The fact is that some shorter workouts can bring about some really good results.  Making a plan accordingly can mean the difference between success and failure.

Runners Can Take Five, or So

Even though most people who are into running choose to put in some extra time, they may be able to boost their health effectively with only an abbreviated session on the track.  Some studies have found that people who run for seven minutes daily may be able to protect themselves from heart disease.  It is believed they may be able to reduce their risk of death from heart disease by as much as 45 percent.  This seems more a matter of consistency than anything else.  It may provide a good and easy goal to work toward.

A Smile May Go a Long Way

Smiling is one of those natural actions that is usually in response to something.  When it involves health, it may be a natural complement to improving the way you feel.  According to a Japanese study, people who rode a stationary bike for 10 minutes per day on a regular schedule were happier.  They were also able to perform better on tasks that require good reaction time.  It is often believed that those who are happy may be healthier.  Some of this may be due to the fact that they experience less stress.

Programs Should Be Styled to Meet Personal Needs

For those of us who are really busy, time is something that we watch carefully.  Making a tight schedule in which we can fit everything is quite a challenge.  Exercise is critical, so if we can design a plan in which we can minimize the time needed to do some good, we may be able to free time for some of those other things.  It may all seem important to us, and we need to give it due attention.
