Enjoy the Amusement Park Without Back Pain
By Virginia Laird
As summer is in full swing and you begin to plan day trips, you may be considering a visit to the local amusement park. If this is something that sounds like your family would love to do, it is best to prepare yourself for a long day of being on your feet. Such an activity can prove to be detrimental to the back. However, chiropractors have offered several tips to help prevent back pain while enjoying the day with your family. Some of these tips include:
- Wear good shoes
- Pack light
- Allow for breaks
- Bring a stroller
Wear Good Shoes
Making sure you wear a good pair of tennis shoes while on your feet all day can be vital in preventing back pain. While many may prefer sandals, these are not the best shoes for providing support and cushion to the feet. Chiropractors suggest that a good pair of tennis shoes is best. These can offer plenty of arch support which will prevent interruption to your natural stride. Check your tennis shoes prior to heading out the door to make sure you have the shoes you need for your day of fun.
Pack Light
Keep in mind when you are headed to the amusement park that you are only going for a day. While you will have some essentials to pack, you will not need a heavy purse or backpack filled to the top. Packing light can play a vital role in keeping away pain. Chiropractors suggest a backpack made of lightweight material with two straps is best, as it can help keep the load light. If you are one who prefers a purse, a crossbody bag can help lighten the load. Keep in mind the smaller bag you choose, the less you will pack.
Allow for Breaks
You may be excited and try to pack as much fun in as possible in your day at the amusement park. However, it is wise to allow time to take breaks and get off the feet. You will spend plenty of time in line waiting for your turn to ride your favorite roller coaster. Much of this time will be spent on your feet. Make sure that during your breaks you hydrate. Chiropractors advise that taking plenty of breaks is one of the best ways to keep back pain at bay.
Bring a Stroller
If you are a parent of young children, be sure to have a stroller ready to accompany you on your trip. This can help keep you from having to tote your bundle of joy through the entire park all day long. Chiropractors advise that a stroller is your back's best friend when it comes to day trips with a youngster.
