You’re working out, yet you’re still sedentary – How is that even possible, you ask? Well, even if you exercise a couple of times a week, chances are that if you sit at a desk all day and then couch potato it at night on the days you don’t work out, you are still living a sedentary life. This doesn’t mean you need to add more gym time, it just means you need to move more on your “off” days. Get a pedometer and keep track of your steps. Find a realistic goal to reach … many people recommend 10,000 steps per day … and take measures to add them in during your work days.

You're not being mindful of your eating habits – It truly is hard to remember everything we eat during the week because some of it is so mindless. The leftover french fries on our children’s plate, the candy dish on our coworker’s desk, the extra cocktail during happy hour are often the culprits of mindless eating and drinking. By keeping track of everything you eat and drink you will soon be able to see where and when the bad habits come out.

You aren’t sleeping enough – Too little sleep has been associated with weight gain because our bodies rely on our circadian rhythm. The body functions optimally when meals and sleep occur at the same time each day. So put sleep high on your priority list!

You’re in pain, so exercise is limited – Have you ever worked out while in pain? I have, and although I was still exercising, my workout was limited because of my discomfort. I exercised less, I cut my workout time in half, my pain superseded my motivation and desire. And although everyone experiences aches and pains throughout their life, if it is affecting your workouts, it has to be addressed.
