3 Healthy Lifestyle Changes to Consider in 2018
By Virginia Laird
If you are looking to make a few healthy changes to your lifestyle in 2018, a great place to begin is health and fitness goals. While there are a ton of things to choose from, making the goals simple can help you find success. Personal trainers advise clients that there is little success in goals which are too complex. A few healthy lifestyle changes to consider including as part of your 2018 include:
- Get plenty of sleep
- Drop a few pounds
- Exercise regularly
Get Plenty of Sleep
Getting plenty of sleep plays a key role in your overall health and wellness. Research suggests that those who do not get enough sleep struggle to stay healthy. Sleep experts suggest that adults should get at least six hours of sleep per night. There are many who require much more sleep than this to stay healthy and function well. There are many reasons for suffering with sleeping issues, including:
- Sleeping on an old matress - It is recommended to replace mattresses which are at least eight years old
- Suffering with too much stress - Stress can be caused at home, work, or other places but can get in the way of rest
- Constant headaches - Headaches which prevent you from sleeping may need medical attention, although many are caused from tension in the back
If you struggle with getting enough sleep, you may want to consider visiting with your chiropractor for help. Research suggests routine visits can improve your ability to sleep. Make sure you are making sleep a top priority in 2018.
Drop a Few Pounds
Losing weight is another way to improve your health. This does not mean committing to a serious diet. Dropping a few pounds can be as easy as increasing your water consumption, cutting back on sugar, or reducing the amount of sodas consumed. Research suggests losing as little as 10 pounds can have positive effects on blood pressure, diabetes, and sleep.
Exercise Regularly
You may currently find it difficult to find the time to exercise. However, exercising regularly can offer a number of benefits to your health. Working out has proven to reduce stress, maintain weight, improve blood pressure, and build cardio strength, among others. Fitness instructors recommend at least three workouts per week.
Making just a few healthy changes in the new year can help you become healthier. As you make the commitment and see the results, you will be glad you took on the challenge to improve your health. Good luck!
