Conquer Wedding Planning Stress
By Sara Butler
Your wedding is one of the biggest events of your life, but planning it can be incredibly stressful. No event, even your wedding, is going to be worth your health and wellness, so you need to take steps in order to keep that stress in check. Here are some great ways you can beat wedding planning stress and keep your wedding plans fun instead of frustrating.
You Are Not an Island
You may want to do everything yourself when it comes to your wedding so you can ensure everything is just how you want it, but you are not an island. You need to think of yourself as more of an archipelago because you are surrounded by people who love you and want your day to be great. You need to take a look at your to-do list in order to identify some things you can put others in charge of. Your fiancé, parents, friends, or wedding planner ares more than capable of taking some of the stress off your weary shoulders.
When you think of organization in the context of your wedding, you probably think of your budget, your venue, your flowers, your cake – the possibilities are endless. But you also need to keep your diet in mind. You need to make sure you have healthy food on hand and your meals organized so you don’t find yourself reaching for unhealthy things when you’re stressed. Keep healthy nuts and seeds, fresh fruits and vegetables, and whole grains on hand so you reach for them instead of the Ben and Jerry’s.
Make Time for Yourself
One of the most important things to remember when planning your wedding is not to lose yourself to it. It can be easy to put your needs last, including your health, when you feel buried under a to-do list a mile long. You need to make sure you’re taking time for yourself away from wedding planning in order to stay healthy. Try to carve out time every day for you to get some exercise – go for a walk, take a group exercise class, just do something that gives you time to unwind and put yourself first.
Planning your wedding is a big deal, but it’s not such a big deal that it’s worth sacrificing your health and wellness. So, take care of yourself and look for ways to give stress the heave-ho so you can enjoy your big day and the planning that goes with it.
