Meet The Doctors

Dr. Drew Perkins, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Temple

Dr. Drew Perkins, whose patients call him Dr. Drew, is the doctor and owner of the Temple and Killeen locations of The Joint Chiropractic. A graduate of Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in biology, Dr. Drew graduated cum laude from Parker University in Dallas in 2016.

One of the greatest joys for Dr. Drew is seeing patients new to chiropractic get their pain resolved after an adjustment. “The thing I love most about being in the chiropractic field is seeing the expressions of awe, disbelief, and happiness on the faces of new patients after their initial issues are gone,” he says. “The second-best thing is delivering something as powerful as the adjustment with my own hands.”

Dr. Drew grew up in the Odessa/Midland area of Texas, and he has worked previously in Austin and Dallas.

His wife, Janet, is the wellness coordinator at The Joint. They have three children -- two boys and a girl -- along with a cat named Sky.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time at the lake, and playing golf, tennis and ping-pong. He also enjoys reading.

Dr. Drew knew chiropractic was his calling at a young age. “Ever since I was little I wanted to be in the medical field,” he says. “When I was 13, I was hit by a car and had severe low back pain. I was told it would go away on its own, but after a month it was still there. My parents, who had never been to a chiropractor themselves, took me to my grandma’s chiropractor and, after two adjustments, I had no back pain.

“I love working at The Joint because it focuses only on the adjustment, which is so simple yet effective. I also love spreading chiropractic to those who would normally not have the means to receive care.”

In Case You Didn’t Know …

Dr. Drew says he always must have pickles or green olives in his refrigerator. “I crave them,” he says, “especially at night.”

If he could sit down with any figures from history and share a meal, Dr. Drew would gather an eclectic group: actor Will Farrell, industrialist (and the wealthiest American in history) John D. Rockefeller, scientist Sir Isaac Newton, and Jesus Christ.

Dr. Drew says the coolest thing he has ever done was to go scuba diving: “It’s like being in a completely different world.”

Dr. Justin Bunderson, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Temple

Dr. Justin Bunderson joined The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2022 when he became part of the Temple clinic location.

“In my opinion, the best thing about being in the chiropractic field is seeing patients learn that they can live a functional, pain-free life,” he says. “When patients no longer have to worry about their plan and can focus on their lives, that is when we all can live a fulfilled life.”

“Another positive aspect of being in the chiropractic field is that it’s an industry/career that treats patients as people and not just a number in the waiting room. I truly enjoy getting to know my regular patients, allowing me to have personal conversations with them.”

“Dr. Justin” to his patients, he grew up in Santa Barbara, Calif., where he learned about responsibility and hard work. “I grew up raising and showing both horses and cattle, and this taught me from very early on that if you put in the effort, the outcome can be profound,” he says.

He worked previously in the Dallas suburbs of Richardson and Weatherford. “Honestly, chiropractic wasn’t my first career path,” Dr. Justin says. “I was pre-vet for my undergraduate degree, but after working in the veterinary industry as a vet tech, I learned that it wasn’t the lifestyle I wanted for myself. Then I discovered I could potentially do animal chiropractic alongside human chiropractic and I was sold.” Chiropractic had a lofty position in his childhood. “When I was younger, my mother was an office manager for a chiropractic office, and I remember always begging to go to the ‘clicky’ or ‘popping’ doctor,” he says. “This was a large part of the reason why I chose the chiropractic industry.”

Dr. Justin earned his doctorate from Parker University in Dallas. Before that, he had received a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. In his spare time, he enjoys being in a social environment while discovering new cities, restaurants, and local trails.

“My favorite experiences as a doctor are when I see a patient come in and tell me they are able to pick up their children without pain, able to wash their hair without pain, able to stand in the kitchen and visit with friends and family without pain,” Dr. Justin says. “Those are the memorable situations that stick with me.”

In Case You Didn’t Know …

Dr. Justin loves pickles, “especially the crunch and the vinegar.”

His ideal dinner party would include Holocaust victim Anne Frank, singer Kelly Clarkson, podcaster Joe Rogan, and comedian Robin Williams. “I remember reading The Diary of Anne Frank in middle school and it making a big impact on my life,” he says. “Kelly Clarkson seems so real and down to earth, and I appreciate Joe Rogan’s openness to see both sides of a situation and apply common sense and logic. To me, Robin Williams was really funny and I would want to learn from him.”

One of the most influential books Dr. Justin has read is Spencer Johnson’s Who Moved My Cheese?. “I read it at least once a year,” he says. “It has helped me, and helps me, deal with and accept change in life.”

Dr. Adam Wade became part of The Joint Chiropractic family of local healthcare providers in 2022 when he joined the Temple and Killeen clinic locations, where he finds the work rewarding.

“I love making a difference in the health and well-being of my patients,” he says. “I find a lot of satisfaction in helping people without the use of drugs to improve the quality of life one patient at a time.”

Born in Iowa, Dr. Wade moved to Austin in the late 1980s. His hobbies involve any outdoor adventure imaginable, including fishing, hunting, farming, and kayaking.

He earned an associate of science degree in production agriculture and a bachelor of science in aviation at Palmer college of Chiropractic and AAS Central Texas College. A graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, Dr. Wade decided to become a chiropractor when he saw the benefits of his own treatment.

“After having back problems for years as a corporate restaurant general manager, chiropractic helped me get through my work week with minimal pain and dysfunction,” he says. “It allowed me to perform day-to-day tasks without pain and I wanted to do the same for others.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

Fresh fruit can always be found in Dr. Wade’s refrigerator. “Fruit seems to go with every meal!”

If Dr. Wade put together the ideal dinner party, he would invite Jesus, BJ Palmer, Tony Robbins, and Florence Nightingale. “They would bring knowledge in a broad spectrum of areas and create many talking points that have shaped me over the years.” One of the most important experiences of Dr. Wade’s life was becoming a father. “Not only has my life changed in a positive way, but it gives me the drive to do the best I can and be a great example in how to strive for your goals and help others with no expectations in return.”

Dr. Wade has an encouraging word for everyone who has a desire to grow. “It's never too late to follow your dreams!” he says. “We are capable of more than we can imagine if we are willing to put in the effort and focus needed!”
