Dr. Colleen Harmon joined The Joint Chiropractic network of healthcare professionals in 2021 with the Webster’s location, Clear Lake. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in health and Wellness from Kaplan University; she received her doctorate from Texas Chiropractic College in 2020.
“The thing that I like about the chiropractic field “is being able to watch patients heal” Dr. Harmon says and “knowing conservative care goes a long way before surgery is ever needed”
A native of Baytown, TX, Dr. Harmon enjoys family time, and would prefer to go on walks with the family than just about anything. It’s a great pastime because she loves this time with family including her 2 dogs named Nancy and Titan.
“After shadowing a chiropractor for weeks, I felt this was the right field” Dr. Harmon says, “because it allowed me to do so many different things in order to help patients get better.”

Dr. Harmon says the one thing she always keeps in his refrigerator is must have is Half and Half, “I am not a happy camper without it” Dr. Harmon mentions.
The coolest thing Dr. Harmon has ever done, she says, is “Flying a plane; that in itself is just cool”.
Dr. Mark Laurents joined the family of healthcare providers at The Joint Chiropractic in 2019 with his arrival at the League City clinic location. He earned his doctorate from Texas Chiropractic College.
“The thing I like best about being in the chiropractic field is giving patients an opportunity to achieve health without the influence of medication or surgery to achieve wellness,” he says. “It’s extremely gratifying developing the trust and respect of patients, as well as developing the respect of allopathic providers.”
A product of Port Arthur and North Shore, Dr. Laurents worked previously in El Paso, Port Neches, La Porte, and Beaumont.
He and wife Sheri have three sons and a daughter, along with a dog named Mitzi. When he’s not working or spending time with family, he enjoys golfing, hunting and fishing, cooking, and yard work.
Dr. Laurents knew chiropractic was his calling when his first-hand experience provided relief from chronic pain.
“Following high school graduation, I developed a football injury that continued to recur,” he says. “My family did not believe in chiropractic treatment. Adult age was 18 at that point, so I sought chiropractic, and with resolution became convinced that alternative healthcare was beneficial.”
He is happy to bring his decades of experience to his local patients. “I thoroughly enjoy the ability to assist patients in achieving their health goals,” he says. “With more than 20 years of multidisciplinary training, I feel very confident in my ability to diagnose musculoskeletal disorders and give patients the best opportunities to make their own decisions regarding management.”

Dr. Laurents says the one thing he always keeps in his refrigerator is keto blueberry bread: “It fulfills my cravings for something sweet while I am attempting to become healthier in my latter 50s.”
If he could bring together any four people from history to comprise his dream dinner party, Dr. Laurents would like to sit down with President Donald Trump, legendary Cowboys coach Tom Landry, megachurch pastor Joel Osteen, and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King.
One of the most gratifying experiences of Dr. Laurents’ life was “becoming a medical director with U.S. Pain and Spine as it symbolized the passion and hard work put forth to achieve my goals to integrate within a system that has not been friendly toward our profession,” he says. “The reason it was so cool is because these providers had great respect for my ability to accurately diagnose, treat, and offer assistance to patients that was not available in the current model.”
Dr. Bethany Pellow was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with her BA in Liberal Studies. She later graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in March 2017. Dr. Pellow began working at The Joint in 2020. She says, “being able to indulge my inner nerd and learn about the neurology of the human body,” is the best part about being in the chiropractic field.
“My mom is the reason I do what I do. Growing up a watched her struggle with severe vertigo. It was so severe that she was not able to walk or drive for long periods of time. For fifteen years I went to doctor after doctor with her, trying to get to the root cause of her problem. Time after time she got the same answer, “Oh honey, your blood pressure is high. Here’s some blood pressure medication.” The side effect of that medication…Dizziness! Or the other typical response was, “Oh honey, you’re just depressed, here’s some anti-depressants.” Of course she’s depressed! She’s constantly dizzy and can’t take care of herself or her family! Nobody was able to find and correct the cause of her problem. It wasn’t until I started going to see a Chiropractor for my chronic sinus infections that I realized Chiropractic might help with her vertigo. It took me two years to get her into the office to have her spine checked. After one adjustment her dizziness went away! Her vertigo was coming from a problem in her neck that was interfering with her balance. After seeing Chiropractic change my mom’s life, I knew I had to be a part of this. Not only to help my mom in the future but because I know other people are sick and suffering and looking for answers. So, I sold my dance studio, packed everything I owned into my car, and went to Chiropractic school!”
When Dr. Pellow is not working she enjoys exercise, Purre Barre and CrossFit being her current favorites. She also enjoys exploring Houston, her new hometown, and spending time with her two dogs, Pepper and Ziva, and her husband James.
Dr. Thelma Champion D.C. attended and graduated Texas Chiropractic College in 1995. Dr. Champion knew chiropractic care was for her when working with her mentor where she learned that chiropractic is not only about treating people in pain, but also keeping them well and healthy. Her favorite thing about being a chiropractor is teaching people that true health comes from within and can be achieved naturally without drugs or surgery. She loves being in the chiropractic field to not only make a difference in patient’s lives but also teaching them how to have better health and optimum performance with chiropractic healthcare. Dr. Champion joined The Joint Chiropractic in March of 2021 and has enjoyed it ever since! Dr. Champion is looking forward to her move to Boerne, TX from her hometown area of Houston, TX. In her spare time, she loves running, walking, and spending time with her friends and family. Dr. Thelma Champion has one daughter Elissa, a son named Hunter, and a Labrador named Thor. Dr. Champion also enjoys listening to country music and would love to meet George Strait, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash to listen and learn about their journey.
Dr. Adam S. Brown became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2017; in 2021 he began serving residents in the Clear Lake area, where he continues doing the work he finds so rewarding.
“Chiropractic is such an enjoyable form of practice to not only help patients in their acute pains, but also to be a component for many in the lifetime choices that can drastically improve their quality of life,” he says. “I love connecting with patients on a deep level with trust and sincerity and them allowing us to be a trusted source for help.”
A product of Fort Worth, Dr. Brown worked previously in Dickinson, Bay City, Houston, Angleton, and Palacios. Married to a dietitian and parents to two daughters and a son, Dr. Brown likes the outdoors and enjoys kayak fishing, sand volleyball, golf and disc golf, tennis, basketball, table tennis, and gardening.
He knew chiropractic was his calling in college. “I visited a chiropractor regarding scoliosis and knew that was the healthiest, most sensible approach for maintenance compared to the normal medication band-aid,” he says.

If he could bring together any four people from history for his ideal dinner party, he would include Jesus, Mahatma Gandhi, basketball legend Charles Barkley, and actress Charlize Theron.
Armed with a sense of humor, Dr. Brown says the coolest thing he’s ever experienced was ice fishing: “Definitely the coldest thing I’ve ever done.”
Dr. David Higginbotham became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2022 when he began serving residents in the Webster area, where he continues doing the work he finds so rewarding.
“The thing I like most about being in the chiropractic field is helping patients without drugs or surgery,” he says. “I love building relationships with patients and their families.”
Dr. H, as his patients call him, is a native son who worked previously in Houston. He enjoys spending time with his wife, as well as golfing, hunting, and fishing.
He earned his doctorate from Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena.
Dr. H says it was natural for him to pursue a career helping others experience the holistic health benefits of chiropractic because “I’ve been seeing a chiropractor my entire life.”
Actually, it started when he was 6 years old. He and his brother climbed on the roof of their house when Dr. H decided to jump. He hurt his lower back. The family physician said to lay the boy out on a heating pad and “he’ll be fine.” Knowing her 6-year-old wasn’t going to be still on a heating pad for any length of time, Mrs. H took her son to the family chiropractor. “I entered the office dragging my right leg, unable to walk without assistance from my mother,” he recalls. “After a brief exam and chiropractic adjustment to my lower back and sacroiliac joints, I proceeded to get off the table and walk without dragging my leg. I thought that was wonderful because now I could play when I got home.”
As a professional, he has paid it forward many times. “After three decades of practice, one of my more memorable experiences was similar to the one when I was 6,” he said. “A patient had a similar condition to mine, presented the same symptoms, and after his first visit was able to return to work the next day with little to no symptoms. Chiropractic is not a quick fix, it’s a lifestyle that patients need to maintain their spinal health because you only have one spine.”
