Skipping Meals
One of the most common weight loss myths forces you to skip meals to get in shape. However, skipping meals can make you hungrier, so you eat more food than normal. After skipping breakfast, you consume more calories during lunch or dinner and gain weight.
Lifting Weights
Some people are scared to lift weights because they believe the myth that lifting will create a bulky body. However, lifting weights can actually help you lose weight. Stronger muscles burn more calories, so you are able to reach your weight loss goals faster.
Going Vegetarian
Another common myth is that you must be vegetarian to lose weight. Although this type of diet is healthy, it is not a requirement to get in shape. In addition, there are overweight vegetarians who still struggle to fit into their favorite jeans.

The myth that low-fat or fat-free food is better for you needs to disappear. Although many products carry this label, you need to read the ingredients carefully. In many cases, the manufacturers add extra starch and sugar to compensate for the lack of fat. They do this to make the products taste better, but you end up eating extra calories that affect your waistline.
Counting Every Calorie
You do not have to fall for the myth that forces you to count every calorie. This tedious process discourages dieters and makes them feel deprived. Multiple studies prove that counting calories is not necessary for weight loss. Instead, focus on eating healthy foods.
