Silly (But Smart) Solutions for Your Child's Health

By Brandi Goodman

Keeping your child healthy isn't always the easiest option. There are days when you just don't have the time or energy to worry about the healthy choice. There are times when your child holds back on wanting to eat a healthier meal or engage in beneficial activities. With some silly (yet smart) solutions, however, you can have an easier time encouraging your child to be healthy and live well.

Have a Dance Party

Exercise is necessary for everyone -- including children. They may not want to get up and exercise if it feels like exactly that. Most people don't. Get up with them and have a dance party instead. You'll both be burning calories and working up a sweat, but it will be accomplished in a fun and effective way. Turn up your kiddo's favorite tunes and dance silly together. Be sure to make it a regular habit.

Let Your Kids Decorate Their Plates

Your kids may be more encouraged to eat off plates they like. More than just purchasing a Paw Patrol plate or giving them a bowl with their favorite cartoon character, let your kids decorate. Them decorating their plate with their food, for example, can help them be creative before munching into their design. They can use banana slices and kiwi slices to make a palm tree, for example.

Play Quick Games

Exercise doesn't have to last for a long time. Just 10 minutes at a time can help get your kids up and active. Run to your kid's room and tell them you want to play a quick game. Have them search for a few items for a treasure hunt around the house and offer them a surprise as their reward for finding them. They can return to what they were doing before and you can surprise them with another fun game or activity later for another round.

Pretend to Be Animals

If you have toddlers or elementary students, this one may work well for them. Pretend to be animals together. You can each walk around the house in the way that animal would, making their sounds. Walking in a new way like this can work some different muscle groups you're not used to.

Your child's health should be at the top of your priority list. Find silly solutions for helping your kids become healthier versions of themselves. These are smart ways to encourage your kiddos and keep the whole family excited about better health.
