Why Chiropractors Hate These Fashion Trends
By Lana Bandoim
Some fashion trends are worth skipping. Whether you are tempted to wear dangerous high heels or carry heavy purses, the risk of injury is high. Chiropractors recommend avoiding the following fashion trends.
High heels look beautiful, but they can lead to pain and injuries. The heels put more weight on the balls of the feet and affect balance. Wearing high heels can cause back problems by adding stress to the spine. In addition, they can lead to foot pain, knee problems and ankle injuries.
Backless shoes create a different set of problems. Although they may have no heel or a low heel, backless shoes can lead to muscle strain. The lack of support for the back of the foot affects balance. It also adds extra stress to the back and legs.
Skinny jeans fill the racks of most stores, but they can affect the hips and knees. Jeans that are too tight restrict movement, so the risk of falling or getting hurt is higher. They can also lead to abdominal pain and leg numbness.
It is easy to fill a giant purse with heavy items that are not necessary. If you wear this heavy purse on one shoulder, there is a high risk of muscle strain and stress. The oversized purse trend can lead to shoulder and back problems. A giant purse is harder to carry, so you have to hold it in awkward positions.
Corsets are back in style because they can be used as waist trainers to create a skinnier profile. Although celebrities love them, you want to skip this fashion trend. Corsets can lead to rib damage and breathing problems. Over time, corsets can also affect the back by atrophying the muscles. Corsets with wires or metal support are more likely to displace organs by putting more pressure on the body.
Oversized necklaces, earrings and bracelets are popular. However, heavy jewelry adds extra weight that can lead to strains. By constantly wearing heavy necklaces, you can hurt the neck and shoulders. An oversized bracelet made from heavy jade or silver may complement your outfit, but it can hurt the arm and wrist.
