You Really May Be Able to Work Off Years

By Tom Herrin

When people think about the things they can have an effect on, they more than likely don’t think about it in terms of aging.  Many times, people simply accept aging as a matter of fact.  They see it as an inevitable event that overshadows their best efforts.  Dismissing the idea that they can actually have some kind of impact on the kind of aging they experience is pretty common.  It may be seen as a pipe dream.  The good news is that studies have shown otherwise.  There are many instances in which people really can slow, or even reverse, some of the common signs of aging.

A Definite Decline Will Happen Without Intervention

As people move on from young adulthood, things slowly change.  In the busy routines of life, it is easy to rely on fast foods and develop a taste for conveniences.  The bad thing is those things often enable people to become less motivated to get out and do as much.  Blood pressure has a tendency to rise as does blood sugar.  Cholesterol becomes a problem for many.  The end result is declining health that is often blamed on aging.  Especially for men, there is muscle loss and an increase in fat.  Their waist grows on a regular basis.  These all may become a formula for type 2 diabetes, which has become a nationwide epidemic.

Things Don’t Have To Remain Bleak

Several studies have shown that people who have been sedentary can change their routine and experience considerable improvement.  What was once thought to be a fact of aging does not have to be so.  The idea that 50 is the new 30 can have more meaning.  Many of those measures that previously indicated loss of good health can be reversed.

Start A Good Program

Adequate rest, regular exercise, and a good diet can improve health.  There has been a definite correlation made between low fat diets and an extension of genetic material.  Such diets are the only ones that have been proven to actually increase the length of the telomeres that actually can increase longevity.  Combine this with a good exercise program, and you may be able to turn back the clock, or at least slow it down.  Regular exercise has proven to improve cholesterol levels and blood pressure.  It can be an overall winning combination.
