Disc Golf May Get You Moving and Improve Health

It is pretty easy to get complacent.  With the busy lives people live today, they are often sidetracked by work and other responsibilities.  Unless they plan to be active, it takes very little to lead to inactivity. This means that people lose sight of the importance of physical fitness.  Even simple activities can promote better health. Starting small can lead to bigger things. One of the newer sports around is disc golf. At least it seems to have gained new popularity and can get people moving and improving their health in no time.

It Can Create Movement

Exercise does not have to be all that intense or specialized.  Moving is the important first step. Disc golf encourages movement.  The open setting of most courses means that people will have to do a certain amount of walking or running.  There is plenty of fresh air and natural scenery. There is something inspirational about the outdoors. People may lose themselves in that activity and do a considerable amount of walking by playing this simple game.  Some people choose to run or jog as they play the game with others to increase the challenge.

It Can Build Confidence

The game is simple in precept.  The idea is to complete the entire course with the fewest number of turns.  The disc simply needs to be tossed into the area marked by the chains. It actually takes a little skill, but that can be developed through practice.  Anytime people experience the success of improving a skill, it can boost the feeling of accomplishment. This boosts confidence as well. Not only does this tend to encourage people to want to continue pursuing the activity, but it also carries over into other things.

It Can Relieve Stress

Just about any game can help you to reduce your level of stress.  The participation can often take your mind off of other worries while the challenge of playing the game can shift attention.  Everyone can benefit from finding ways to redirect their focus. Playing a game such as disc golf can be fun. You can play it at almost any level you desire.  It can be with a group or family or simply enjoyed alone as a way of occupying your mind and body.
