Dr. Shih, Doctor of Chiropractic in Rockford, IL, earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the National University of Health Sciences in Illinois in 1995. At National University, he received extensive training in evidence-based chiropractic care and whole health healing, studying in an integrative environment alongside other natural healthcare professionals.
With nearly two decades of experience at Advance Medical Rehabilitation Center (AMR) in Loves Park, IL, Dr. Shih brings a wealth of knowledge to his current role at The Joint Chiropractic in Rockford.
Dr. Shih specializes in musculoskeletal disorders, offering expert care in physical therapy, chiropractic rehabilitation, and sports injury treatment. He is particularly passionate about helping patients recover from sports-related injuries, including those related to golf injuries. In 2000, he became a Certified Chiropractic Golf Specialist, allowing him to uniquely support golfers in preventing and recovering from injury.
When he’s not providing top-quality chiropractic care in Rockford, Dr. Shih enjoys staying active on the golf course.
Dr. Sean Gilmore, Doctor of Chiropractic in Rockford, IL, began his journey in chiropractic care at a young age. In 1967, his father moved the family to Davenport, Iowa, to attend the renowned Palmer College of Chiropractic. At just three years old, Dr. Gilmore remembers watching his father practice chiropractic adjustments in the student clinic—memories that laid the foundation for his own passion for healing.
Inspired by his father's legacy, Dr. Gilmore, along with his two sisters, continued the family tradition of helping others through natural, hands-on chiropractic treatment.
After serving in the military, Dr. Gilmore embarked on global adventures—from crewing on a 48-foot sloop in Italy to working across Ireland in various roles. Eventually, his passion for health and wellness called him back to the U.S. to pursue formal education.
He earned undergraduate degrees in Electronic Engineering and Engineering Management in St. Louis, Missouri, before attending Logan College of Chiropractic, where he also received a degree in Human Biology. In 2008, he graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic and earned certification to practice in the United Kingdom, where he worked alongside his sister in Saltcoats, Scotland.
Now based in Rockford, Illinois, Dr. Gilmore is proud to be part of The Joint Chiropractic – Rockford. He is committed to helping patients of all ages achieve and maintain optimal spinal health, pain relief, and improved mobility through safe, effective chiropractic adjustments.

Dr. Shannon Gilmore, Doctor of Chiropractic in Rockford, IL, is a 1998 graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri. She has also completed a three-year post-graduate program in Chiropractic Neurology, providing her with advanced expertise in diagnosing and treating complex neuromusculoskeletal conditions.
Dr. Gilmore’s passion for chiropractic care was sparked while working alongside her father, Dr. JJ Gilmore, in his practice in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland. There, she witnessed firsthand the powerful healing effects of chiropractic adjustments on patients of all ages—experiences that inspired her to carry on the family legacy in natural, drug-free healthcare.
After earning her Doctor of Chiropractic degree, Dr. Gilmore began practicing in Island Lake, IL, and later joined a busy family chiropractic clinic in St. Louis, MO. In 2000, she opened her own practice in Schaumburg, Illinois, and also spent time working with her father again in Verona, Italy until his passing in 2001.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Gilmore served in higher education from 2002 to 2015, teaching subjects such as anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, pathology, and medical terminology within medical assisting and massage therapy programs. Her broad background enables her to approach chiropractic wellness from a holistic, evidence-informed perspective.
Today, Dr. Gilmore brings decades of international experience and compassionate, personalized care to her patients at The Joint Chiropractic – Rockford.
