Chiropractic Care and the Political Process
It may not seem likely, but it is definitely possible that the political process can play a role in the delivery and support systems that chiropractic care are afforded in your region.
Because chiropractic care is a relatively controversial discipline of medicine, and the exact results of chiropractic care have not been truly discovered, there are some involved in the political process that are inherently opposed to the idea of supporting chiropractic care in their locale. Whether the political figure in question has the limited responsibilities of a town assemblyman or is a prominent political figure with power, such as a governor, it is important to recognize that the fate of chiropractic care in your community could potentially be swayed by the actions of political changes.
Many Americans have limited interaction with the political process. Aside from voting, which is a struggle to get Americans to carry out in and of itself, there is little involvement with the political sector on the part of the individual despite our country’s core values as a government of the people, for the people, by the people. Sure there are community activists and interest groups that interact with the political community to promote their agenda, but the overall level of interaction sometimes insignificant.
For chiropractic care to flourish in communities it is vital that there is a level of support from the community as well as a level of transparency with politicians. Individuals in a given community should be aware of the ideals of the politicians that are involved in that community. With respect to chiropractic care, those in support of chiropractic care should try to develop relationships with the politician and their staff who has included chiropractic care into their plan for the community. Even if a politician does not preside directly over your community and they have jurisdiction in a nearby community, it is still beneficial to have a knowledge of their views on chiropractic care as the discipline of chiropractic care is sometimes rooted in the performance of political actors.
