How to Ride Roller Coasters Without Feeling Pain

By Brandi Swieter

Amusement parks provide entertainment for the masses each summer, enticing people with their fast roller coasters and exciting rides. Though these rides can be incredibly exhilerating, they can also be dangerous. People who choose not to follow safe ride protocols can get ride whiplash that leaves their necks and backs in disarray. Riding without pain is easy as long as people follow a few guidelines.

Keep the Head Back

It may seem exciting to lean forward on the roller coaster and look out over the view. Though it can be exciting, it is also dangerous to do so. The coaster will pull quickly to one side, thrust forward fast, and make other sudden movements that could greatly harm the neck and head if it isn’t restrained. It’s important to keep the head back against the support rest to keep it safe and free from pain.

Stretch Before Riding

Most people wouldn’t think to stretch just because they’re going on an attraction, but the process could actually help a ton. Stretching allows the body to loosen up. Being loose and flexible ensures the body can handle any activities it’s about to complete. Failing to stretch could mean tight muscles and joints on rides that require flexibility; it would allow pain to set in easily.

Stay Hydrated

Prior to getting on any rides, it’s necessary to get hydrated. It’s equally important to stay hydrated throughout the day. A well-hydrated body is better equipped to handle vigorous activities. It will also assist with recovery time afterward.

Know When to Quit

Too many people try to get their money’s worth by staying at the amusement park for the full day from open until close. Though this is fine to do, it’s important to know when to quit riding. If a person is feeling pain and struggling to get on rides, they shouldn’t keep standing in line until last call. Let the others ride, get in a good break and some stretch time before having to get into the car to head home.

Roller coasters and other rides that tend to whip people around need to be tried with caution. Anyone who already suffers from back pain should avoid them, and those who dare to try should be sure to follow the safety protocols. Pain doesn’t have to be experienced on roller coasters if people ride safely. Anyone suffering from pain after a day at an amusement park should visit The Joint Chiropractic to see how they can help.
