How to Effectively Make Work Time A Healthy Time

Whether you work at an office or work from home, the fact is that during work hours, most of us are sitting down at a desk or in a sedentary state. This just comes with the territory of being on a computer, sitting at meetings, interviewing people, going to lunches, writing out reports… the list goes on. This can add up to many of us spending most of our days on our behinds, which is not conducive to a healthy lifestyle. In order to make sure that you are spending your work hours wisely, below are some tips to make it as healthy a time as possible.

Eat The Most Important Meal of The Day

...which we all know to be breakfast. It is no lie that people who eat a healthy breakfast in the morning perform better throughout the day. This can be as simple as grabbing a banana and a yogurt, or you can be an overachiever and make an egg and avocado sandy on whole wheat. Either way, do not skip this meal. It will set the tone for the rest of your day.

This Doesn’t Mean You Can Forget About Lunchtime Though

It can be easy to work through lunch without even realizing it, especially with the endless amounts of work that always seemingly need to get done ASAP. However, making sure you take that time to eat a nutritious meal, take a breathe and relax for even just that thirty minutes will help you focus even better on the afternoon’s work. Not only is this time good for your body, but it can be even more beneficial for your mind.

Snacks Are Not Just For Kids

The period from about 3 o’clock till the end of the work day are definitely the toughest. It seems that no matter how much sleep you got the night before, or how energizing your lunch was, your body is just instinctually programed to want a nap at that time, as least mine is. Snacking is a great way to get over that late afternoon slump. A snack consisting of some fiber, fat and protein will give you that extra fuel to push you through the rest of the day.

Stay Active In Your Off Hours

Taking a few nights out of the week to workout will make you a happy, healthier person. This does not mean you have to run four miles every day, but making sure that you get your body moving for thirty to sixty minutes at least three days a week will make a huge difference in your overall health. Not only that, but your mood will become happier and you will sleep better at night.
