Get Swimsuit Ready With These Exercises

By Virginia Laird

It’s almost time: Swimsuit season! While you not be ready to consider shopping for this sacred piece of summerwear, it is time to begin getting into shape so you are ready to wear it. Health and wellness professionals suggest that it is more important to live a healthy lifestyle year-round than binge exercise trying to meet a goal for a short period of time. Now is the time to begin exercising to make a difference and get the desired results this summer. A few suggested exercises to put to the test to help you get your body summer-ready include:

  • Plank daily
  • Make squats mandatory
  • Go for a jog

Plank Daily

Health and wellness experts suggest that planks are the best exercise to tone the core. These are also helpful for improving posture. Strengthening the core can help reduce the occurence of back pain. If you are just beginning your planking journey, start small. Planking each day can help you see results in just a short time.

Make Squats Mandatory

Squats are a great exercise to focus on toning the legs. While they can be no fun, and may cause stiffness the following day, the results may be worth the battle. For those who are just beginning with these, it is best not to overdo it. If you are like me, you may find squats easy and have a desire to do far more than you should within the first day or so. Doing too many the first day can make the legs very sore, causing you to consider skipping out the next day. Rather than falling victim to this, do only a few squats the first few days, and add slowly. This can also prevent injury from taking over the legs.

Go for a Jog

Jogging is suggested as a way to help get the body in shape as it is a calorie burner. There is no need to spend hours at the gym. A simple jog through your neighborhood in the evenings can get the job done. Health and wellness experts recommend as little as 20 minutes of jogging three times per week. If you struggle to survive a jog, consider asking a friend to join the fun.

Now that you have this advice, you may be ready to jump out there and start getting yourself ready for swimsuit season. Get your shopping shoes on and let the hunt for the perfect suit begin.
