Everyone knows someone who is always sick. Maybe it’s a parent, a sibling, a best friend … or maybe it’s you. Being sick is definitely not any fun. Besides feeling miserable, it also keeps you out of everyday activities. Luckily, there are some things that you can do to protect yourself, boost your immune system, and enable your body to fight illness more efficiently. Take a look at a few of these helpful tips below.
Strengthen Your Body
The stronger your body, the healthier you’re going to be. How do you strengthen the body? You guessed it … you have to exercise. Find a workout that you enjoy and make it a daily habit. You may be able to maintain a healthy weight, boost various functions in your body, improve mental function, and feel better overall as a result.
Eat Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an immune booster, so if you eat enough, you can give your body a better ability to fight illness. Where can you find this vitamin? Try adding leafy greens such as spinach and kale or citrus fruits such as oranges, pineapple, or kiwi. If you don’t have the tastebuds for those foods, you can also take a Vitamin C supplement which can be found at your local pharmacy.
Travel With Layers
It might not be quite as effective in the dead of summer, but as the fall winds blow in, make sure that you have layers available to keep your body at the right temperature. Being too cold can contribute to colds and sinus troubles. Carry a light jacket or sweater, pack a blanket in your car, and make sure that you’re prepared for whatever weather may pop up.
Improve Your Basic Hygiene
Wash your hands. We skip this step a lot. If you’ve been in a public place or touched something that gets a lot of use, just wash your hands with soap and water to keep germs away. You don’t have to be obsessive, but a little cleanliness can go a long way in boosting your immune system and knocking germs out before they have the chance to invade.
It doesn’t take some miraculous pill or otherworldly experience to keep you healthy. It just takes some preparation and attention to details.
