Nighttime Habits to Make Your Tomorrow Brighter
By Sara Butler
People who are highly productive don't get out of bed after hitting the snooze button roughly 4,748 times in the morning. No, productive people don't have to do that because they have great nighttime habits that set them up for daytime success. They probably don't even use the snooze button.
If you have vowed to be more productive during the day, then you need to add a few of these habits to your nighttime routine to help you get excited to face each new day!
Unplug
Handheld technology is pretty amazing, but always being connected can get tiresome. Before bed, about 30 to 60 minutes before, you need to turn off your devices and let your brain recharge and use the time to unwind and relax.
Forget the Nightcap
Leave the nightcaps to people at Yacht Clubs who wear ascots. If you want to wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed, then you have to say no to alcohol before bed. Alcohol can actually cause sleep interruptions as your blood sugar tends to spike later in the night from the liquor. These disruptions leave you feeling drowsy and unfocused the next day. If you want to have a glass of something before bed, make it some herbal tea!
Stretch
Give your joints and muscles a little TLC at the end of a long day with some gentle stretching. Try creating a nighttime program that includes overhead stretches, hamstring stretches, and heart openers. If you need guidance on good stretches to add in, then consider talking to the chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic -- they're a great resource!
Prep for Tomorrow
Take the time at night to choose your wardrobe for the next day, then lay it out -- kind of like you'd do for the first day of school when you were a kid. If you take a bag or briefcase to work, pack it. Same goes for a healthy lunch and maybe a few healthy snacks to keep at your desk. This will serve to make your morning a bit less hectic and let you ease into your day.
Make a List
Take the time at night to write out a list of the three biggest things you hope to accomplish the next day. They don't have to be elaborate, they can be as simple as being patient or making your bed. It's probably best to leave things such as "win the lottery" or "meet and marry Prince Harry" (he's already taken). Make them goals you can achieve.
With a little planning, you can set yourself up for success every day, making your tomorrow just a little bit brighter!
