Morning Rituals That Make Your Day Better

One of the hardest parts of the day is the morning. Unless you wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed, the mornings are likely a bit of a struggle. Who really wants to leave their warm and comfy bed for the unknown (or mundane) of the day ahead? But unfortunately, the mornings are a necessary part of the day. If you find the mornings a little bit difficult, check out these rituals that make every day just a little bit better.

Avoid the Phone (For a While)

Most of us wake up and reach for the phone almost immediately. We browse the news or social media, check for texts from friends, and waste a bit of time on our favorite distraction. But have you ever considered that this might actually be bad for you? There’s nothing wrong with connectivity, but there is definitely something wrong with too much connectivity. When we reach for our phones immediately upon waking, it raises our stress levels from the get-go. If you want to improve your day, avoid the phone for at least the first 30 minutes upon waking. While it might be difficult at first, you may find yourself feeling much more relaxed after a few days sans phone.

Move and Breathe Deep

Even if you don’t head to the gym, do something that quickly warms up your body and gets your blood moving. This helps to create more energy, increase your focus, and get your body and brain ready for the day. A few jumping jacks, a quick yoga session … just do whatever works for you. Once you’ve moved about, take a few deep breaths to calm your body and mind back down, and then go about your morning.

Get Dressed

You probably get dressed every morning, but this means to dress in a way that makes you feel good about yourself. Don’t wake up last-minute, throw on wrinkled clothes, and skip doing your face or hair. You won’t feel your best during the day because you didn’t take the time to feel your best in the morning. Instead, get up and make yourself up. Wear nice clothes (or at least wrinkle-free!), fix your hair, and get yourself prepared to be presentable. You’ll look better, feel better, and make every day just a little bit more productive if you take care of yourself first.

If you don’t have your morning ritual down yet, or even if you think you might need a change, use these tips to make your mornings and your life just a little bit better. You might be shocked at how a few small changes can make such a big impact. A good morning often equals a better day, so focus on morning happiness for more productive and energetic days.
