How to Improve Energy First Thing in the Morning
By Genevieve Cunningham
For the majority of adults, energy is a hard thing to find. Between work and family obligations, community events, and personal time, most of us are simply drained by the end of the day. What's worse is that many of us actually wake up this way! When we first wake up in the morning, we're already tired. While this may seem normal, it's definitely not the way we want to live our lives. If you need to improve your energy first thing in the morning, take a look at these tips that can be really effective.
Skip the Snooze Button
We all love to hit that snooze button when the alarm first goes off. Just five more minutes. Unfortunately, if you really want more energy, those five minutes have to be eliminated. Get up as soon as the alarm goes off. This is the moment when you’re going to be the most awake. If you snooze, your body is only going to want to snooze again and again. It might take some practice, but making this a habit is one of the first steps to morning energy.
Sleep in the Dark
It’s easier to have energy in the mornings if you’ve had a good night’s rest. And a good night’s rest is a ton easier if you sleep in the dark and the silence. Many in today’s world actually sleep with the TV on or with various lights on around the room. These habits are actually incredibly disruptive to sleep patterns. Learn to sleep in the quiet and the dark, and your sleep and morning energy are likely to improve.
Keep a Water Bottle Handy
Water is a great tool for waking up the body. While most of us reach for coffee in the mornings, this would be unnecessary if we would simply drink more water. Water hydrates the body, wakes up the mind, and kickstarts metabolism. Keep a water bottle beside the bed and drink before you even get up. You might be surprised at how effective a little water is at keeping you alert and awake.
Waking up with more energy helps to start the day off right. We can go about our daily tasks without feeling feeling completely exhausted. Use these tips to help you wake up with more energy, and you may find that the fatigue and exhaustion are left far behind.
