How a Shower Per Day Keeps the Doctor Away
By Brandi Goodman
The famous saying about apples can be applied to many things. A shower per day is an equally great option. If you want to avoid sickness, keep your mental health in check as much as possible; if you want to remain healthy and well, then a shower is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Staying Free From Infections
If you aren't washing your body each day, then you aren't adequately keeping yourself clean and free from the risk of infections. Bacteria and germs spread so quickly. Have a cut or sore somewhere on you? There's an even greater chance you could develop an infection if you don't keep that area free from dirt and grime. Take a shower every day so you can stay free from infections and avoid a doctor visit because of it.
Boosting Your Mental Health
Poor mental health from symptoms of depression can be debilitating. The last thing on your mind is a shower when all you may want to do is lay in bed and forget the world. However, doing so can worsen your symptoms. No matter how badly you don't want to, get up and shower for the day. Cleaning off can be symbolic of washing away anything that's bothering you and helping your mind to feel clean and clear. At the very least, feeling clean and knowing you did something for yourself can help.
Reducing Cold and Flu Symptoms
Say you currently have a cold or the flu. Taking a shower can help reduce these symptoms because the heat and steam from it can open up your airways and have you breathing easier. It will also help to loosen up phlegm so you can get it out.
Increasing Your Energy
Skip the caffeine in the morning. All you need is a cold shower to increase your energy and have you ready to take on the day. The cold water can shock your senses and get your heart rate up. It will also boost your blood circulation. Your level of melatonin, which is known as the sleep hormone, will even decrease after being hit by the cold. This decreases your sleepy feeling and leaves your body and mind fully awake.
A shower per day is a great goal to have. Start each day with one if you can to really get your body and mind feeling pumped up and ready to be at their best. You can also use a hot shower or bath at the end of a long day to relax. A few minutes is all you need to experience these benefits and boost your well-being.
