4 Toddler-Approved Healthy Snacks
By Genevieve Cunningham
One of the hardest parts about healthy eating is the snacking! Reaching for the chips or a quick and easy vending machine item is all too easy. It’s a little tougher to get yourself prepared enough to have healthy snacks on hand. Add kids into the mix, and this becomes even more difficult as your time and energy are spent getting tugged in a million different directions. But, it is possible to eat healthy without spending all day in the kitchen. Check out these four toddler approved healthy snacks to add to the menu as soon as today.
Apples and Peanut Butter
This gives you and your family a healthy dose of protein, healthy fats, fiber, and water. Plus, it’s super easy. Just grab an apple, wash it, slice it up, and add a dollop of peanut butter to the plate. Now dip your slice in the peanut butter and enjoy. Easy, delicious, and healthy to boot.
Sauteed Bell Peppers
This might sound like a strange snack, but it’s absolutely delicious. Slice up a bell pepper, throw some coconut oil or olive oil in the pan, and let your slices simmer until tender. It’s fairly easy to do, and the result is a soft, flavor filled, Vitamin C-packed snack. And if you can just get your kids to taste this treat, they may love the fresh flavor.
Almonds and Cheese
Nuts are an excellent addition to the menu. They are packed with protein as well as the brain boosting omega-3. Add some cheese for calcium, and you’ve got a super healthy snack. Just measure out one serving of almonds and slice some blocked cheese to your liking. Cheddar, mozzarella, pepper jack … take your pick! For a few more calories and a little more flavor, add a handful of grapes to the mix.
Berry Mix
Berries are packed full of antioxidants that help to keep your body healthy. And for kids and adults alike, they offer a slightly sweet flavor to tackle the taste buds. Just choose some of your favorites … blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, etc. … and throw them together in a cup for a delicious, super easy, delectable snack for everyone.
Eating healthy is not impossible at all. But, it does take some planning and a little research to make the habit last a lifetime. Use these snacks to get your diet moving in the right direction and keep your whole family healthy.
