Obvious Rules for Keeping the Body Healthy
By Genevieve Cunningham
Keeping the body healthy is no joke. We often ignore our bodies and our health -- and then something happens that we can't ignore! Why do we wait? Instead, let's be proactive. And the best news is that sometimes being proactive is really, really easy. If you're ready to get serious about taking care of yourself, take a look at these obvious rules you should be following for better health every day.
Don't Smoke -- or Vape
Stop smoking. Seriously, in today's world, there's no excuse! Smoking is incredibly bad for the body as a whole. It ruins the lungs, ages the skin, and raises the risk of various serious diseases including heart disease and cancer. The same can be said for vaping. Though it hasn't been tied to as many instances of cancer, more and more negative side effects of vaping are coming to light every day. If you want to live a healthy life, say no to smoking of all kinds.
Move More
We don't move enough. We're so incredibly sedentary. Good health requires movement. Get an exercise routine and do it at least four times per week. But even if you can't manage to exercise, make sure that you're moving in general. Get up more. Walk more. Stretch more. These little movements really add up. Make movement a regular thing, and your health will undoubtedly improve.
Worry About Your Weight
It's OK to love your body the way it is. And no, you shouldn't become obsessed with your weight. But you shouldn't throw caution to the wind either. The harsh truth is that many illnesses are directly related to obesity. Don't obsess about your weight, but manage it. Eat a healthy diet and avoid bad foods. Your weight will play a huge role in the way that you feel and your longevity. Be smart about it, and your health will be better in the long run.
It's way past time to put yourself first. If you haven't been concerned with your health, start with these really obvious tips first. Do one at a time, and then add another when you're ready. With some diligence and a true desire for better health, you can turn it around for a better and healthier future.
