How to Naturally Elevate Your Oral Health
By Alexis Mills
People don't realize how much more we can be doing to support our oral health and that we shouldn't solely rely on dentists to keep our mouths healthy. There are many ways that we can help our teeth take care of themselves.
Consider these options to fight back against dental visits.
Use a Tongue Scraper
Before you brush your teeth, simply scrape your tongue. This is such an easy way to add to your dental care routine to remove toxins and bacteria from your tongue and mouth.
Gargle With Salt Water and Baking Soda
In the morning after brushing, gargle a warm glass with a little salt and 8 ounces of water. This will alkalinize your mouth to keep bacteria from forming. After you eat breakfast or mid-morning, rinse your mouth with a little baking soda in 8 ounces of water to balance the mouth's pH levels.
Use a Straw
Using a straw when drinking will help keep your teeth safe from acid or whatever else you are drinking. It also helps keep your teeth pearly white to protect them from what you are drinking.
Try Oil Pulling
If you haven't heard of oil pulling before, it is using coconut oil and swishing it in your mouth. This extracts the toxins from your mouth, so it is important once you are done swishing to spit it out in the trash. Afterward, swish mouthwash and water in your mouth to clean your mouth. Doing oil pulling consistently has been shown to help heal cavities, whiten teeth, freshens breath, and removes plaque.
Invest in Fancy Floss or an Electric Water Flosser
Using better quality floss has more of a scrub to it to make the flossing experience more efficient. If you really want to work on your teeth and gums more, an electric water flosser is a great way to get an extra deep clean into your gums. This will give you closer to a dentist experience at home.
Chew Xylitol Gum
Choose gum that is sugar-free, aspartame-free, plastic-free to promote the best oral health. Chew gum that is natural xylitol-sweetened gum because it increases salivation, reduces cavities, and removes plaque.
Try Natural Mouthwash
Using a natural mouthwash is important because it doesn't kill all the good bacteria in your mouth like unnatural mouthwashes do. They promote a healthy oral environment.
If you are looking to boost your health and wellness, starting with your oral health can be an easy way to start your journey. Plus, the benefits will leave you with a fresh breath and a radiant smile.
