Chiropractic Is the Intriguing Option in Healthcare
By Martin Henderson
Nobody wants to be sick. Nobody wants to be sore. Nobody wants to go through life feeling ill, feeling tired, feeling bad.
So what are we supposed to do about it?
Oftentimes, when we don't feel like we are 100 percent, we look to the medicine cabinet, or we look to our doctor. But are we really helping ourselves if that is our go-to move every time we get in a pinch health-wise? No, we're not.
Doctor vs. Chiropractor
Although chiropractors are doctors, doctors are not chiropractors. Practically every time we go to the doctor -- our general practitioner -- we are going to come out of the doctor's office feeling the exact same way we went in. The doctor will look us over, maybe tell us what he thinks is wrong (often among options), and probably prescribe us some medication. But the way we feel will be the same. We will not be any better for having visited a doctor and having slapped down a copay.
That's what makes chiropractic so intriguing. When it comes to healthcare, chiropractors aren't interested in sending you off to the pharmacy so that you can mask your symptoms. That's essentially what happens when the doctor prescribes medication. You are given something that makes you feel better but doesn't necessarily eliminate the cause of what is causing you discomfort.
That's where chiropractic is different. The central nervous system peels off the spinal cord; it is encased by the spine. Chiropractors use their knowledge of the musculoskeletal system to examine the spine and correct any restrictions that may exist within the vertebrae. These restrictions may be impeding the electrical messages sent from the brain to the various parts of the body, thereby preventing your body from doing what it is supposed to.
A chiropractor can provide an adjustment that may help improve your immune system, or get rid of that wonky feeling in your hand, or eliminate that headache that has been bugging you since yesterday. And this is done through the chiropractic adjustment, which restores the nervous system to its optimal functioning, because every part of your body is impacted by the central nervous system -- which runs through the spine.
The Healthy You
If you want to be at your optimal best each and every day, then it is important to use chiropractic care on a regular basis so that you can get the most out of your body. Nobody wants to feel terrible, but if the spinal cord and nervous system is working optimally, then your body should be working optimally as well.
That is not something you can get with an aspirin.
