Why Monday is the Best Day to Hit the Gym Hard
By Genevieve Cunningham
Garfield was definitely right … Monday is the worst day of the week. Though Mondays are tough, they also get your week off to a particular start. Whether that’s a good start or a bad one is completely up to us. If you want to make your Mondays really count, do it by engaging in an awesome workout session. Sound appealing? Probably not, but it’s more than worth it. If you’re struggling to get through Monday (and the week!) take a look at why you should use this day as a workout jumpstart.
It Sets the Tone for the Week
Monday can make or break the rest of the week if you let it. Start your week off right by working out at the week’s onset. This can help set the tone for the remainder of the week, which then makes it easier to get up and get moving on your other scheduled workout days. While you’ll definitely want to go straight home and crawl into bed after work on Monday, forcing yourself to hit the gym sets the whole week up for greater success.
It Gives Your Body a Boost
We often feel sluggish on Mondays. We don’t want to get out of bed. We don’t want to go to work. And we definitely don’t want to exercise! But if you do it, you’ll probably see a boost in health. You may notice your metabolism pick up, your mood lighten, and your immune system work more efficiently. If you’re looking for an easy way to boost your health at the beginning of the week, a Monday workout can help in a big way.
It’s Tough
The truth is that working out on a Monday is hard work. It’s the last place that we want to be, and we probably splurged a bit over the weekend. But this is why you should hit the gym harder than ever … because it’s tough. Doing your exercise routine when you really don’t want to brings more benefit than almost any other day’s routine. Do it to boost your body’s health, but also do it to beat the mental fog that tells you it’s not important.
Mondays are the worst. They drag, and there’s very little look forward to. But why not look forward to your workout? You’ll improve your health and make you feel better than ever, and you might beat that frustrating case of the Mondays while you’re at it.
