Want to Improve Your Mornings? Here's Help
By Donna Stark
They are all around us, obviously endowed with something pretty special. They are the ones who show up to work on time, smelling good and looking fresh. They are also the ones that are always prepared for the day ahead before the day even begins for others. You are either one of them or not, and if you don't wake up with some pep to your step, chances are, you aren't a part of their group. They are the morning people. And they know how to start the day right.
Making Your Mornings Better
The difference between you and morning people is that mornings are not your friend, are they? If you tend to hit the snooze button over and over again and begin the day with your feet dragging on the floor, it may be time to revamp your morning routine. Here are some great tips on how to start the day off right, especially for those who are not big on mornings.
Stretch Before You Start the Day
You've already admitted to not being a morning person, so I wouldn't dare suggest getting up and hitting an intense workout, but starting your day with some movement definitely has its benefits. And stretching is the way to go. Morning stretches can help ease muscle tension, alleviate body aches, improve mobility, and increase energy levels. It's also a great way to increase blood and nutrient flow in your body, which will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to begin your day.
Make a Healthy Breakfast
We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and there is good reason why it has been designated as so. Fueling your body with a healthy, nutrient-dense meal in the morning will help provide you with the energy you need to compete with those friendly morning people around you. It will increase alertness, improve focus, and promote healthier eating throughout the day too, so make sure you hit your kitchen in the morning instead of the drive-thru.
Meditate for a Few Minutes
If your days are known to start off with high levels of stress, try incorporating a quick meditation session into your daily morning routine. Even if your session ends up being only a few minutes long, you will still be able to reap plenty of benefits by doing so. Meditation is a great way for the mind to prepare for the day ahead. It also lowers blood pressure, improves your heart rate, and reduces stress and anxiety naturally.
Better Mornings Ahead
Following the tips above won't necessarily turn you into a morning person, but they will make your mornings a little bit better. And if there is anything that will impact your health, mood, and productivity, it's starting your day off on the right foot!
