Work Out and Still Save Time
By Tom Herrin
For busy people, there often seems to be no letting up. Their schedules are packed so full that they barely have time to slow down. When they try to work in a workout, they may feel that they meet a brick wall. Being busy is a good thing, but it may get in the way of doing some of those things that are also important in order to make life better for them. Exercise is something that should really be a part of everyone's life. Lack of it can spell trouble. While it is important, it is not so critical that they spend long hours doing so. They may be able to accomplish their desired purpose in much less time than they believe. This may be a case in which less could be better.
Running a Little May Be All It Requires
For those who enjoy running, they may like the opportunity to get out and go. If they are attempting to do so for the benefit of their overall health, they may be able to do that for much less. Some studies have shown that people who run for just 10 minutes per day on a regular basis may be able to reduce their chances of death from heart disease by as much as 45 percent. This is a good number. It may fit well into a program in which people are squeezed by many other time restraints.
If We Are Not Into Running, Be Happy
Being happy is a critical part of good health. How many have seen someone who is not happy and yet experienced good health? It is not a picture that readily comes to mind. A Japanese study found that a group of people who rode a stationary bike for 10 minutes per day on a steady basis were, overall, happier. They also did well on various tests requiring mental function and alertness. Happy goes well with healthy. When people are happy, stress is usually lower and health may be better.
Let Us Make It Work
Whatever we do, it is best if we have a plan and set some real goals. Working toward something can help to make our goals a reality. Deciding what is important in our daily schedule can enable us to make better priorities. If we want to maintain good health as well as keep our busy routine, we can do so by reducing our number of minutes for a workout and staying on schedule.
