Tired of Being Tired: How to Beat Fatigue

By Genevieve Cunningham

There’s almost nothing worse than feeling tired all day. As adults, it seems as though no matter how much sleep we get (or don’t!), we’re always feeling rundown and exhausted. We’re constantly busy, constantly fatigued, and our overall health definitely suffers as a result. But what can we do? Quit our jobs? Drop out of family obligations? Make our kids skip lessons and practices? Of course not! Instead, it’s important to learn how to manage fatigue. If you’re ready to get serious about your fatigue, take a look at these tips for beating it for good.

Adjust Your Thoughts on Sleep

A lot of people look at sleep as an inconvenience. Who has time to sleep? We feel the need to stay up late and binge watch the latest season of our favorite show. We're almost proud of our ability to go without sleep. If you're always tired, it's time to think about sleep differently. It’s time to make it priority. Time to stick to a bedtime. The more rest that you can get, the less fatigued you’ll feel on a daily basis.

Get Rid of Some Stress

Stress can really weigh on the body. When you have excess stress, it can make you feel tired and rundown. If you can lower your stress, you can lower your fatigue. So how do we do this? Start by prioritizing responsibilities, saying no to extra work, taking a little time for yourself, and using your days off to rest and relax.

Get Some Exercise

It’s easy to think that exercise will make you more tired, but the truth is that regular exercise actually creates more energy. It helps the body create endorphins and adrenaline, two hormones that make you feel awake and energized. Create a schedule and stick to it. Choose whatever kind of workout you enjoy and make it a part of your regular life.

Improve Your Diet

If you don't fuel your body properly, you will inevitably be tired. Is your diet full of chips and donuts and heavy starches? If so, you need to replace them with fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains. The better food you eat, the more energy you’ll have, and the better you’ll feel on a daily basis.

Being tired is no fun. Fatigue can get in the way of daily tasks and a happy life. Luckily, you don't have to live with constant exhaustion. Use these tips to end the fatigue and feel better than ever in no time at all.
