3 Ways to Get in a Workout Naturally
By Genevieve Cunningham
Some people love working out. They love going to the gym. They love the feeling of sweat running down their face. They're fitness lovers -- and when it comes to staying fit, they've got it under control. For other people, taking the time to spend at the gym sounds like torture. They don't want anything to do with a planned workout or fitness classes or a regular exercise schedule. If you're in the latter group, staying fit is probably a challenge for you. But there's good news! Staying fit and getting a great workout can be done without ever buying a gym membership. If you're a little more interested in fitting in exercise organically, take a look at these natural ways to do it.
Gardening
If you've never worked in a garden, then you really don't understand how much work is involved. There's mowing, weeding, planting, digging, watering. It's an everyday job that requires plenty of physical activity. But since you're working to produce something and patiently awaiting the fruits of your labor, the work just doesn't seem quite as bad. If you want your workout to be productive, then gardening is an excellent choice.
Play Time
When was the last time you played with kids? Not just took them to the park and watched them climb the monkey bars -- but actually played with them! As an adult, playing is hard work. It requires using muscles you forgot you had. It requires jumping and running and skipping and swinging. It's tough! If you want your workout to be fun, gather your family and play a little every day.
House Cleaning
Not all house cleaning is hard work. If you stay on top of it, it's relatively easy and straightforward. But when you give your house a deep cleaning -- perhaps once per week or so -- you're going to get a great workout. You'll use your arm muscles to scrub and sweep and dust. You'll use your legs to climb stairs and stoop and stand on your tiptoes. If you need a workout with obvious results, clean your house from top to bottom and enjoy the results on your body too.
Working out doesn't have to be and shouldn't be a miserable concept. It should feel good! If you're more likely to stick with a workout that doesn't have that gym vibe, then use these natural workouts as an option. With a few good choices, you can move your life in a healthy direction without fretting over your fitness routine.
