Meet The Doctors
Dr. Curtis Kempel was born and raised in Freeport, Illinois and received his Bachelor of Science at Northern Illinois University in 2007. He worked as an MRI technologist in his 20s and injured his lower back while working at the hospital. He was found to have herniated his L5 disc and after weeks of physical therapy with little improvement he went to a chiropractor. He felt more pain relief and improved mobility after 1 adjustment than 8 PT sessions. After a few weeks of chiropractic adjustments, his pain was gone and he started getting adjusted on a regular basis to keep back pain away and stay injury free. This led to him attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA where he graduated Cum Laude and was also nationally certified in physiotherapy. After graduating, Dr. Kempel worked at medically integrated clinics. While these clinics have their place, their treatment tends to be controlled by insurance companies that cost patients more money and time than clinically necessary. While attending The Joint as a patient, Dr. Kempel not only recognized how much more patient friendly The Joint was than insurance driven clinics, but also found the model much more in line with his ethical standards. Dr. Kempel believes in The Joint Chiropractic so much he decided to quit the insurance driven model and open his own Joint Chiropractic clinic.
Dr. Casey Dycus, D.C. is a passionate and dedicated chiropractor. He helps individuals restore and optimize their health through a holistic, patient-centered approach. A firm believer that the body has an innate ability to heal when the nervous system is in balance, Dr. Dycus looks beyond symptoms to address the root causes of dysfunction. He treats each patient as a whole person, not just a spine, meeting them where they are on their health journey. Grounded deeply in his Christian faith, Dr. Dycus believes that every human being is made in the image of God and that our bodies are living miracles, deserving of care, respect, and intentional stewardship. His philosophy blends science and faith, emphasizing both the body’s remarkable design and the practical steps needed to support healing and wellness. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Dycus enjoys spending time outdoors, whether hiking, fishing, or simply looking up at the sky. His long-term vision is to build a life in Alaska with his future wife and children, embracing a lifestyle rooted in nature, faith, and service.
