How to Binge Watch Without Any Guilt

By Genevieve Cunningham

Everyone is guilty of binge watching television from time to time. Since the invention of streaming entertainment services, binge watching is a really common thing. Unfortunately, it's become quite the habit for many people. They work, come home, and immediately turn on their favorite show and watch for hours. But this little habit comes with consequences -- mostly in regards to our health. Luckily, you don't have to give up binge watching completely; you just have to learn to keep it under control. If you would like to binge watch without the guilt, take a look at these tips for doing it in a much healthier manner.

Do It On a Vacation Day

Sometimes we just need a break from the world. We need to take off work, forget our responsibilities, and relax. If you need a day like this, take a vacation day. And because you know that vacation days are limited, spend it however you want -- even if that means a day full of binge watching. Vacation days are meant to help you unwind, and if an all-day binge-fest of your favorite show is what will do the trick, by all means do it.

Exercise While You Watch

If you'd rather watch more often, you can still make your binge-watching time productive. How? Just exercise while you watch. If you have a treadmill, you can set it up in front of your screen and watch to your heart's content. If not, you can walk in place, do lunges, pop some squats, or work the core. If you're moving and burning calories while you watch, are you really doing that much harm? Probably not -- enjoy.

Allow It Every Once in a While

If you don't want to wait for a vacation day to enjoy a good binge session, schedule it into your days once or twice per month. Maybe the second and fourth Saturday is set aside for laundry and catching up on Netflix. Maybe it's every Friday night. It's fine to allow entertainment. Do it in a planned and prepared way, and your health and well-being will be much better off.

Everyone is guilty of a good binge in today's world. It's too easy to get lost in another world and let your worries melt away. And as long as you do it the right way, it's totally fine to get in a good binge. Use these tips to keep the bingeing under control, and you can have the best of both worlds.
