A Healthier You With These 3 Tips
By Virginia Laird
For those who are looking for tips to improve their health in the new year, there are many from which to choose. Keeping it simple is the best way to ensure success. Wellness specialists have offered a variety of suggestions to help you get started on your path to a healthier you, including:
- Cut out sugar
- Try a yoga class
- Sleep is necessary
Cut Out Sugar
Although it makes things tasty, sugar has been proven to be somewhat unhealthy. Like many others, it is my favorite food group, second only to chocolate. As a avid choc-o-holic and sweet tooth indulger, I know how difficult it can be to cut sugar out. However, making the choice to do this can improve your health. Personally, I have cut sugar out of my life before. It is always the first week which is the hardest, but once I mastered it, there were no cravings. Cutting out sugar can help control diabetes, as well as other health issues.
Try a Yoga Class
So, getting healthy is one of your goals for 2018? You should try a yoga class. Yoga is a low-impact workout. It involves a great deal of stretches and poses. Many people who struggle with pain in the body can handle this class. Some have even reported that the class has helped to release tension and reduced some of the pain. If you love a fast-paced workout, you may need to give yoga class a couple of tries before turning your nose up at it. Step aerobics is my personal favorite, so it took me a couple of classes to fall in love with the relaxation and slow pace of yoga.
Sleep is Necessary
When trying to improve your health, sleep is paramount. The body needs sleep to function. When there is a lack of sleep, the body has a more difficult time fighting off infection and viruses. Sleep experts recommend the average adult should get at least six hours of sleep each night. Children require much more than this. Getting enough sleep begins with going to bed when you are tired.
No matter where you decide to begin, know that you are not alone. If you struggle with your willpower, reach out to friends, family, or a personal trainer to help you beat the odds. You are stronger than you think. Good luck on your journey to a healthier you.
