Daily Exercise Can Be A Drag:How to Keep the Spark

By Virginia Laird

Whether you love to exercise or despise it, you have most likely needed (at some point) to add the spark back to your workout regimen. Fitness gurus suggest that there are times this can be quite the struggle. However it is never impossible. A few tips to consider to help your workout come alive again include:

  • Take a friend along for the workout
  • Give yourself a day off
  • Try new classes often

Take a Friend Along for the Workout

Working out with a friend is a great way to stay motivated and have fun. Health and wellness experts suggest that friends can help one another be accountable and provide a little push when you may not be feeling like exercising. Not only can working out with a buddy help to prevent skipping out, it can also make you work a little harder. Research suggests that friends tend to push one another to do more, work harder, and achieve goals which may have otherwise been forgotten. If you are one who needs a little push and some laughs along your workout journey, reach out to a friend today and plan to hit the gym together tomorrow.

Give Yourself a Day Off

Keeping your workout fun and fresh can be a challenge, especially as the monotony of daily exercise begins to attack your mind. Research suggests that a day free from exercise can help prevent injury. For this reason, experts admit that allowing for a day off each week to reset your mind, as well as allow your body to rest, can be beneficial in keeping the mind excited and ready to work out.

Try New Classes Often

Trying new classes is one of my favorite things to do when I start to feel the monotony of my workout routine. Research suggests that giving a new workout a try can help your mind and body rejuvenate, putting the spark back in your workout. I find that when I try a new workout which I do not enjoy, it makes me appreciate the one I found monotonous. And, when I find new workouts that I enjoy, it makes me excited to try it again. Either way, I figure it is a win and helpful when I begin to bore from my routine.

Now is the time to take this advice to help get your workout exciting again.
