Why Chiropractors Remind Us To Not Forget About Foot Care

Most of us have so many places to go, people to see and plans to make every, single day that we barely give any thought to the things that are physically responsible for getting us to those activities- our feet. Usually we do not pay our tootsies any mind until they are causing us pain, either in the form of a blister, arch troubles or heel pain.

In the hotter months many people tend to wear opened toed shoes, flip flops and sandals. These types of footwear offer little to zero support, making the feet exceptionally susceptible to injuries such as plantar fasciitis and heel bruises.

The best way to defend against these foot problems is to wear a more structured shoe that provides optimal support for all parts of the foot. With the summer months coming to an end, it will be more natural to choose these more stable types of footwear. However, other than just relying on the shoes you wear, there are other steps you can take to both treat and protect against common foot injuries, with chiropractic being at the forefront.

Many chiropractors are big advocates of maintaining proper foot health through various chiropractic treatments. Many people would not think to implement chiropractic care in an effort to retain orthotic health, but it is actually a very effective way to relieve pain and prevent future damage. Even if you wear proper shoes, you can still encounter foot pain. Sometimes if you suffer from shoulder, neck or back pain, the discomfort could be a result of a plantar fasciitis. Correcting the foot injury might in turn help relieve the other bodily pain as well.

In addition to traditional chiropractic manipulations that involve adjustments done by hand, there is a newer technique called shockwave therapy that may also help treat the foot pain. Shockwave treatments use sound waves to relax tense muscles, which relieves pain and reduces spasms. These intense sound waves may even affect the body’s metabolism by giving it a boost. This creates micro-circulation, which may aid the body in its ability to self heal.

Chiropractic care and shockwave therapy are both treatments that are appropriate for virtually any age group. From infants and children to teenagers and senior citizens, chiropractic can help all demographics naturally treat their foot pain issues. Since chiropractic does not use pain medications in any of their treatments, it is safe for everyone.
