Chiropractic and Exercise Ease Lower Back Pain

By Sandy Schroeder

If you do a lot of five-hour sits at your computer, lower back pain may be an ongoing issue.  I always intend to do just a little work, but remain in place way too long as my spine complains. You probably know the drill. First you move more slowly. Then pain follows. You may try to exercise and walk it off, but extended sitting still wins out.

The Joint Chiropractic clinic near you helps people of all ages successfully deal with lower back pain. Their wellness clinic staffs licensed chiropractors who can help you get to the root of the problem.

See Your Chiropractor

When you talk with your chiropractor, you will learn how a healthy spine can improve your whole system. The spine keeps the body mobile and the central nervous system inside keeps all of the systems functioning. When everything works better you do too.

Gentle targeted spinal adjustments may create lower back pain relief as the spine is realigned. You may also enjoy other benefits, such as more energy, better sleep and clearer thinking. As you evaluate your adjustment, you may find weekly 15-minute spinal adjustments keep the pain away and invite you to be more active.

Exercise the Spine

At the same time, you may want to try three simple exercises from WellAndGood.com to keep the spine strong. Shoot for improved endurance, posture and form to help you move a lot more.

Do a side bridge - Work the muscles that stabilize the spine. Lie on one side with knees bent and move up on one elbow. Put your other hand on the opposite shoulder. Lift hips off the floor for 10 seconds. If you straighten legs you will create a side plank.

Try a curl up - Lie on your back with one leg straight and the other knee bent. Put your hands under the lower back and move your head, shoulders and neck off of your back. Hold for 10 seconds and then lower your body back down.

Do a bird dog - Strengthen the muscles around the spine. Start on hands and knees and lift left arm forward as you kick your right leg back. Keep the body flat head to toe.
