Anxiety and How Chiropractic Care Could Help
By Rachel Shouse
Did you know that nearly 40 million people in the United States will be diagnosed with mental illness this year? I didn't. Not that it's very surprising, given the havoc the coronavirus has wreaked around the world. A lot of our "normals" have changed. One large change a lot of folks are facing is mental illness. Anxiety is hard to deal with and there are a lot of causes and triggers, which vary by person. While the causes may vary, there are a number of things you can do that will help give you some relief.
Natural Anxiety Remedies
There are a multitude of ways to reduce your anxiety in a natural and inexpensive way. If you're unsure about what you need, be sure to ask an employee at your favorite natural food stores. If you don't have one nearby, you can also ask your pharmacist at your local drug store.
For those who are more likely to shop online, here are a few ideas you could start with.
- Essential oils and a diffuser
- Sound machines
- Hemp oil
- Easy-to-use spa tools
- Assorted vitamins and minerals targeted for anxiety relief
Taking Proper Care of Your Physical and Mental Health
It's especially important that those who suffer from anxiety eat a healthy diet and get adequate exercise. This may induce some eye-rolls in some folks. While this may seem overrated or unnecessary, think about how well your mind and body can function if you take better care of yourself.
Making these types of changes can be hard, but far from impossible. A great way to keep yourself from burning out is by setting small goals in realistic time frames. While I commend the fire that most people start out with when creating a new routine, it usually burns out quickly. Unfortunately, this can lead to quitting, gaining all of the weight back and/or gaining more weight, or losing the muscle and strength you gained.
Chiropractic Care and Your Anxiety
Many people associate chiropractors with back pain, joint problems, etc. In reality, chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic have a vast amount of knowledge. One area that they excel in is natural healthcare. They may recommend more visits, safe and natural products, seeing a counselor, and more. Chiropractors also believe in taking the best care of your physical and mental health in order to prevent issues from happening in the future.
Lastly, don't be afraid to ask for help. Communication can reduce more stress than you may think. If you wait too long to talk to someone, you're likely to suffer from increased stress causing you to blow up at someone nearest and dearest to you. Asking for help may be hard, but don't rule it out.
