3 Quick and Easy Healthy Breakfast Options - 2nd Week
By Genevieve Cunningham
It’s been said time and again that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But sometimes it’s also the toughest. After slapping the snooze button a couple of times, dragging yourself out of bed, and rushing to get out of the door in time for work, breakfast is probably the last thing on your mind. If this sounds like you, take a look at these three quick and easy breakfast options to keep you on time and healthy as ever.
Cold Cereal
Cold cereal gets a bad rap. In many health circles, cereal is viewed as one of the most unhealthy breakfast options available, but that’s not necessarily true. It all depends on the kind that you eat. If you’re filling up on Lucky Charms and Cocoa Puffs, then the above statement is probably true. Your breakfast is not as healthy as it should be. But, if you choose whole grain cereals without sugar and frosting and the other bells and whistles, then you can have a low calorie, nutrient dense meal to keep you feeling full and satisfied for hours.
Toast and Egg
Sounds difficult and time consuming, doesn’t it? It doesn’t have to be. We're not talking about a super deluxe egg white omelette. Instead, take the simple approach. Before you get in the shower, throw an egg in a pot of water and boil it. When you get out, toast some whole wheat bread and peel your egg. In barely any time at all, you have whole grains, protein, and a tasty breakfast to get your day started off right.
Fruit and Granola
Another quick and seriously delicious option is some simple granola, which can be bought at most grocery stores, along with your favorite fruit. On your way out, just grab a handful of the granola, along with an apple or pear or whatever your favorite fruit may be, and you have a healthy breakfast that can be eaten on the go. Just make sure that you read the label before buying granola, as some kinds add too much additional sugar and other potentially unhealthy ingredients.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and with easy options such as these, now it can also be one of the easiest. No more rushing around and skipping the first meal. Use these ideas to start your day and your menu off on the right foot.
