3 Exercises to Try If You Suffer From Painful Joints

Many people suffer with painful joints. Much of the time, exercise can increase the pain. With a variety of reasons for the pain, it can be difficult to find relief. Alas, there are a plethora of exercises that can be used to help prevent pain. Before you let pain, or the memory of the pain you had from your last workout, keep you from hitting the gym, consider the following:

  • Take up yoga
  • Try resistance exercises

Take a Swim

Swimming has long been proven to be one of the very best exercises for the body. This activity is no-impact, as it offers no pain or stress on the joints. It is also fantastic for the cardio system. Research suggests that swimming as little as 20 minutes can improve and strengthen the cardio system. Another benefit of swimming includes its use of the entire body. Although many do not realize it, every single  muscle of the body is in use while swimming. This allows for overall toning.

Take Up Yoga

If you are looking for a great low impact workout, yoga may be just the answer. This is generally defined as stretches and poses that improve flexibility, mobility, and strengthen muscles. As a slow moving class, it also focuses on breathing techniques to help improve both the mind and body. Although this class may not sound like a sweat-breaking class, there is more to it than meets the eye. Before turning your nose up at this class, give it a try. You just may be surprised at how much of a workout this activity can be.

Try Resistance Exercises

Resistance training can be more than jumping into the weightroom at the local gym. Many places have machines that can help guide a person in their path to build strength. It is important to have strong muscles to accompany the skeletal system. The muscles can help take strain off the joints, as well as improve posture. If you are uncertain about where to begin with resistance training, just keep it light and simple. Try a couple of the machines at the local gym until you are ready for more.
